A few little life goals got ticked off when Wynn Hamlyn asked me to illustrate a floral to be printed on rugs for his NZFW show 2017. An additional bonus was when he decided to also print the floral on silks as part of his "Seasons 2018" collection.
The rugs were seen throughout the foyer area at NZFW, starting off beautiful white, and by the end of the week covered in far too many wine stains (my poor heart), but despite the mess it was still very exciting to see my work on an interior product, something I hope I will see more in my future.
For his catwalk the rugs lined the runway in various shapes and sizes, alongside miniature glasshouses and cast in light projections. The models dressed for mixed seasonal weather in my printed silks with wools, scarves and sunhats, an eclectic combination reflecting our unpredictable weather.
This collection releases in Feb 2018, I can't wait to see it!
